Made in Italy Curioni Sun since 1991 designs and manufactures its machines in Italy for production of paper bags, which also thanks to the European regulations regarding the ban of plastic shopping bags, are increasingly the focus of attention of companies interested in converting production towards the market of paper shoppers Curioni Sun Teramo in 2016 will celebrate 25 years in the course of which it has sold and installed around the world about 110 paper bag making machines. A not bad result if we think that the company has 15 people in the workforce for a production capacity of 5-7 machines per year, depending on the complexity of the line, with the ambition to increase them to about 10 machines, considered the new market scenario. Founded in 1991 within the Officine Curioni, historic Italian manufacturer of machines for corrugated cardboard, it has maintained its sales and administration department in Lodi, where we meet Fulvio Curioni, director and managing director of Curioni Sun and Roberto Silvestrini, commercial director, while the production site is in Teramo.
Curioni Sun is therefore a really family-run industry, extremely flexible and dynamic, where the will to grow and dominate the market with its cutting-edge solutions doesn’t lack, thanks to a team of young but experienced engineers working in Teramo under close supervision of technical manager Vittorio Biondi.
Innovation has always been in the DNA of Curioni Sun: let’s remember that it was the first company to present a modern and ergonomic paper bag making machine, with assisted servo motors, developing this unusual solution for manufacturers of bags, thanks to the experience derived from printing machines for cardboard.
Two production lines for a wide range of shopper
All machines are offered both with mechanical and servo assisted transmission. Two paper bag making machines represent the range of Curioni-sacchetti-fine-lineaCurioni Sun, able to cover all the needs of bag manufacturers: the Sun Master 540evo or 541 for medium to large sizes (from 24 to 54 cm) and the Sun Master 350 or 355 for small and medium sizes (from 18 to 35 cm). “We cover the range of machines with two bags instead of our main competitors, that cover it with three machines, for maximum flexibility for our customers”, adds Roberto Silvestrini. “With the new generation of machines we have implemented significantly the quality and production of our lines, thanks to which we returned to play our part in important markets, such as internal, but also French and Spanish, in addition to our traditional markets represented by emerging countries and Gulf area. In Curioni-541-350-rearPortugal at Finieco customer we are present with over 10 paper bag making machines”, says Fulvio Curioni. Despite the use of servo motors has improved the machine, the production of paper bag making machines with mechanical transmission is going to continue. These are the most popular on the market, by virtue of an excellent quality/price ratio, but also for ease of management and maintenance. All Curioni Sun machines allow production of bags with the strap, with flat paper handle and, thanks to a solution (optional) which also provides the twin handle making unit, you can get a versatile machine that in a few minutes guarantees the change of handle.
A new handle making unit thanks to PP-woven bags
Thanks to the cooperation with the Austrian company Starlinger, which builds machines for the production of PP-woven, Curioni Sun has Curioni-in-produzionedeveloped a paper bag making machine that can manufacture shopping bags with flat handle, using only this plastic material. “Starlinger is a great company with over 500 employees, and through this collaboration we have grown a lot, both from a technical and technological point of view, but also from the point of view of our business organization. We are giving particular attention to this aspect, with a training program for our employees. We are a young company that believes in human value and we intend to support our employees in their professional growth, because being a small company we need to be aligned perfectly on objectives”, adds Fulvio Curioni.
